Uncertainty Estimation for Ion Chromatographic Determination of Halogen Content in Cable Materials
Halogen content is one of the key indexes that affect the performance of electric cable materials, and thus needs to be accurately determined to achieve fine product quality control and occupational safety.Ion chromatography is usually used to quantify halogen content, and its accuracy and authenticity depend on various factors, such as instrument accura-cy,sample preparation, and selection of reference materials. This work established an uncertainty estimation model based on analyzing the aforementioned variables, and the uncertainty was quantified with actual samples. The results showed that the instrument precision and sample treatment process could be regarded as the main sources of uncertainty in ion chromatographic determination of halogen content in cable materials. It is feasible to reduce uncertainty and improve accu-racy and reliability of measurement by fine-tuning of experimental conditions and strengthening quality control.
