Simulative Analysis of Fixed Contact Support Mechanism of Dead-tank Circuit Breakers
Dead-tank circuit breakers are the major equipment widely applied in electric systems which ensure reliable op-eration of grids.Arcing chamber is the core part of a dead-tank circuit breaker and the stability of fixed contact inside the chamber predominantly determines the opening/closure reliability of the breaker. This work performed a simulative analy-sis on the fixed contact's support mechanism of a certain type of dead-tank circuit breaker. The main efforts entailed the force analysis of the support mechanism subjected to closure impact, and the electric field distribution analysis of the chamber's internal region. The simulation was expected to check the rationality of the fixed contact's support system, and the results were verified by an electrical test. The study may contain useful information for the design of similar electrical parts.
