Analysis and Suggestion on a Case of Three-phase Current Imbalance Fault Encountered by a Bus-tie Breaker in 220 kV GIS System
This essay reports the handling and causal analysis with respect to a case of three-phase current imbalance fault encountered by an operating gas insulated switchgear(GIS).The analysis carried out was on GIS three-phase current waveform, and the examinations performed were X-ray inspections and equipment disassembly check. It could be conclu-ded that the three-phase current imbalance was caused by B-phase opening abnormality of the GIS disconnector which re-sulted from design defects and internal mechanical wear.To solve this issue,it is suggested that manufacturer should im-prove in the design and installation process, and users should closely monitor currently operating equipment and adopt more frequent equipment maintenance.
