Analysis of Inrush Current and Overvoltage Generated by Switching AC Filter Under Different Working Conditions
Frequent switching operations of the AC filter group are required during the safe and stable operation of ultra-high voltage direct current transmission. To measure the impact of AC filter closing inrush current and overvoltage under different operating conditions of DC system, establish electromagnetic transient models for each component of AC filter.Based on PSCAD/EMTDC simulation software, simulation calculations were carried out on the closing inrush current and overvoltage of an AC filter in a certain DC project. The simulation analysis was conducted on the closing inrush current and overvoltage generated when switching the AC filter during the power rise and fall process after the DC system was started. The results showed that switching the AC filter during the power rise or fall process after the DC system was started had a certain degree of impact on the inrush current and capacitor operation overvoltage. This should be considered in engineering design to reasonably select the insulation coordination of the AC filter.
