Study on Anti-icing Performance of Expanded Conductor
The use of expanded conductors as the substitute for bundle conductors has recently been proposed in the field of electrical power engineering to reduce ice covering on transmission lines. However there could find few publications studying practically the icing of expanded conductors and bundle conductors under natural circumstances. In view of this the present work studied the relationships of collision coefficient with conductor diameter and with wind speed, and com-pared the ice covering situation of expanded conductor and double-bundle conductor in practical natural circumstances. It could be concluded that the increases of cylinder diameter and wind speed resulted in reduction and increase, respectively,of conductor collision coefficient, and LGKK-600 expanded conductor achieved smaller amount of ice covering under natu-ral circumstances compared with LGJ-300/50 double-bundle conductor.
