摘要
民族文化在走向世界的过程中不免遭受文化亏损,多模态翻译可对此予以补偿.以中国国际电视台(CGTN)的岭南文化纪录片A Lion Dance Life:The Awaken Lion Interprets the Meaning of Life 的翻译为例,从多模态语用视角重新审视岭南文化的外译路径,探究岭南文化外译中理解和转换阶段的多模态语用策略.此类多模态翻译先从模态间性关系入手,通过"解码+推理"理解源语文本各模态协同产生的整体意义,继而在译语文本生成阶段,通过对模态间性关系的复制、替换、繁化或简化等途径达成原文与译文之间的阐释性相似.
Abstract
Cultural losses are inevitable in the"going global"process of national cultures.However,such losses could be made up for by multimodal translation.This paper surveys the outward translation of Lingnan culture from a multimodal pragmatic perspective.It takes the documentary video A Lion Dance Life:The Awaken Lion Interprets the Meaning of Life produced by China Global Television Network(CGTN)as an example and explores the pragmatic strategies for understanding the source text and produ-cing the target text.When translating such multimodal texts,the translator firstly has to grasp the multimodal meaning as a result of the interplay among all modes through decoding and inferring.This is based on the analysis of multimodal relations.In the produc-tion phase,the translator duplicates,substitutes,complicates or reduces the multimodal relations of the source text to realize the in-terpretive resemblance between the source and target text.
