The global navigation satellite system (GNSS) faces challenges in signal coverage in complex scenarios, which hinders the provision of ubiquitous spatiotemporal information services. To address the difficulty of continuous satellite navigation positioning services across all spaces, research and system development based on signals of BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) for seamless indoor-outdoor navigation positioning technology are being conducted. This is crucial for achieving ubiquitous spatial positioning services. This paper first defined the concept of a ubiquitous spatial positioning system as "ground/outdoor positioning+underground/indoor positioning+cloud-based positioning". It proposed the architecture of the ubiquitous spatial positioning system, signal information architecture, and application service architecture. The paper discussed key technologies, types of application services, and application modes within this system. Furthermore,it established a ubiquitous spatial positioning experimental network and conducted preliminary demonstration verification and performance evaluation of ground/outdoor positioning,underground/indoor positioning, and cloud-based positioning in typical scenarios. Research findings indicated that the experimental network based on BeiDou could provide ubiquitous spatiotemporal information services, expanding BeiDou navigation positioning services from open spaces to semi-obstructed and fully obstructed spaces.
