In order to further improve the determination accuracy and exactitude of true northern position angles in the construction of missile preset positions, aerospace launch, gyroscope calibration and other fields, the paper proposed a measurement method of true north position angles:various methods for measuring true north azimuth were discussed, and the characteristics and measurement accuracy of existing methods were analyzed;then a method for measuring true north azimuth using a total station with automatic target recognition (ATR) function was given;finally, two methods were used to analyze the accuracy and precision of the four true northern azimuth angles measured.Experimental results showed that the maximum absolute value of the discrepancy would be 0.38″,and the true accuracy of the short edge true northern azimuth angle measurement based on ATR would be better than±0.5″,providing technical reference for determining the extrinsic accuracy of the azimuth basis, which could verify the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method.
