The Genealogy of Western Xia Cave Art in Dunhuang Judging from the Five-Temple Grottoes in Subei——Serial Studies on the Five-Temple Grottoes(Ⅱ)
The Western Xia murals inthe Five-Temple Grottoes in Subei are quite distinct among Dunhuang cave art.By taking these murals as a style of art with its own historical genealogy,this study seeks to see the development and evolution of Tangut murals in the Dunhuang caves more clearly,and to understand the relationship among the cave groups in the Dunhuang region during the Western Xia period.This study provides the missing link for constructing a complete lineage of Western Xia cave art in Dunhuang.
