Discussion on the potential assessment method of geothermal resources under balanced production and reinjection:A case study for the carbonate reservoir in Xiong'an New Area
Geothermal reinjection is a critical aspect that ensures the sustainable development and utilization of geothermal resources.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the potential assessment method for geothermal resources under the conditions of balanced production and reinjection.In this study,the evaluation method for geothermal resources under the condition of geothermal reinjection is proposed by introducing the concept of heat breakthrough and the protection radius of a single well.The carbonate geothermal reservoir in Xiong'an New Area is taken as an example.The study calculates the recoverable amount of geothermal fluid,recoverable heat,and equivalent coal under two conditions:without reinjection and with reinjection.The results show that the recoverable quantity without reinjection,calculated using the extraction coefficient method,is significantly smaller than that under the condition of geothermal reinjection.When comparing different methods under the condition of reinjection,the order of preference is as follows:geothermal breakthrough method>protection radius of single well mining interest under reinjection condition(reserve depletion 15%)>protection radius of single well mining interest under reinjection condition(thermal reservoir temperature drops by 2℃).Considering the sustainability of geothermal resources and the strict protection requirements for geothermal reservoirs,it is more suitable to calculate the geothermal production volume of the Wumishan Formation in Xiong'an New Area using the method of protection radius of single well exploitation rights under reinjection conditions.Currently,relevant policies across the country mandate the implementation of geothermal reinjection.The proposed method provides crucial technical support for a reasonable and scientific evaluation of the extractable amount of geothermal heat,considering the reinjection conditions in various locations.
