Substitution of R1234yf and R134a in Electric Compressors for Automotive Air-Conditioners
In order to study the trend and difference of compressor cooling performance with rotational speed when using R1234yf and R134a refrigerants, and to verify the feasibility of replacing R134a refrigerant with R1234yf in the field of electric compressors, this paper uses an electric compressor test system based on the second refrigerant calo-rimeter method to test the performance of electric compressors using R1234yf and R134a refrigerants at 5 500,6 000 and 6 500 rpm respectively under two test conditions, and the results are compared. The data indicate that, within the(5 500~6 500)rpm range, the coefficient of performance(COP)for both refrigerants decreases with increasing speed, but the decline is less pronounced when using R1234yf.The cooling capacity and COP are higher when using R134a,with the differences between the two refrigerants decreasing as speed increases.Additionally, the exhaust temperature is lower when using R1234yf compared to R134a,and the temperature increase is more gradual.
