Investigation on Laser Peen Forming at Double Sides of Stiffeners in Stiffened Panel
Stiffened panels can significantly improve the structural efficiency and airtightness of aerospace aircraft,and they are widely used structural forms in modern aerospace vehicles.Laser peen forming(LPF)is a novel flexible forming process without requiring expensive dies,and it is desired for producing stiffness panels.Besides conducting laser peening(LP)on the skin,performing LP on both sides of the stiffener will contribute to precise control of panel geometry.Based on it,the study investigated the deformation characteristics of LP on the both sides of the panel stiffener,and the eigenstrain theory was used to derive an analytical formula for the equivalent bending moment induced by double-sided LP on the stiffener.Subsequently,a numerical model of the equivalent bending moment was developed to efficiently predict the bending deformation of the double-sided LP on the stiffeners.The result indicated that the proposed equivalent bending moment model may serve as an effective tool for deformation prediction and process planning of LPF for stiffened panels.
