Experimental Study on Inner Jetted Dielectric in Ejecting-explosion EDM of SiCp/Al Composites
When machining small holes by EDM,as the machining depth increases, the discharge of electrical corrosion products is difficult, which affects the efficiency of machining. Therefore,a single factor comparison process test of internal flushing fluid and non-flushing fluid under ejecting-explosion EDM is designed. The effects of flushing pressure, electrode inner diameter and SiC content on the machining performance and surface quality of small holes in SiCp/Al composites during ejecting-explosion EDM under the action of internal flushing fluid is analyzed. The results show that when machining 55%SiCp/Al composites using tube electrode with inner diameter of 1.5 mm under 3 MPa flushing pressure, compared with non-flushing machining, the machining efficiency is increased by 26.9%,the electrode relative loss rate is reduced by 29.6%,the machining taper is reduced by 29.2%,and the surface roughness is reduced by 19.2%.
