Design and analysis of novel main and secondary tooth permanent magnet vernier motor with hourglass-shaped magnetic insulation
Based on the topology of traditional alternating poles double-stator split-tooth permanent magnet vernier motor,a novel main and secondary tooth permanent magnet vernier motor with hourglass-shaped magnetic insulation was proposed, aiming at further improving the motor torque density and solving the problem of inter-pole leakage of NS-pole permanent magnets.Based on the magnetic field modulation principle, the structural parameters of the stator main and secondary teeth were optimized. The regulating action of the main tooth can achieve effective coupling between the low-speed rotating permanent magnet magnetic field and the high-speed rotating armature magnetic field. The air gap field was further regulated by the secondary tooth, which generates other effective harmonics to increase the synchronous torque com-ponent of the motor. The hourglass-shaped magnetic isolation structure was introduced on both sides of the permanent magnet, which not only suppresses inter-pole leakage, but also greatly reduces the radial stress and deformation of the permanent magnet. The influence of the polar arc coefficient of the perma-nent magnet on the torque and power factor was investigated, and the optimized model parameters were determined. Finally, the superiority of the main and secondary tooth permanent magnet vernier motor with hourglass-shaped magnetic insulation was verified by the finite-element results.Compared with the tradi-tional split tooth type permanent magnet motor, the motor has greater torque and less torque ripple.
