"X zen me le(What's wrong with X)"is a common quotation rebuttal format in Chinese,which is composed of three parts:"X",the interrogative pronoun"zen me le",and the rebuttal sentence."X"can be a direct or an indirect quotation,and the rebuttal sentence can realize four discourse functions---highlighting,explaining,strengthening,and commenting.The sentence can be used,first,according to the cognitive difference of the parties,and second,according to the different standpoints.Under the guidance of the interactive language view,its semantic characteristics are also discussed,and the sentence also has pragmatic functions such as highlighting the speaker's position and expressing negative emotions.At the same time,this article also covers the semantic derivation process of"X zen me le".
