Economic Comparative Study on Coal Transportation and Power Transmission from Xinjiang Hami Energy Base to Henan
As a province rich in energy resources, Henan became a net energy-input province by the end of the "Eleventh Five-Year" (2006-2010). Faced with increasingly intense situation of energy supply, however, Henan is now badly in need of external energy input in order to realize the national economic development strategy for Central China and to satisfy the province's energy and power demand. Meanwhile, as a nationaMevel primary energy base, the Xinjiang region will be one of the main sources providing energy to Henan in the future. This paper conducts an economic comparison between coal transportation and power transmission from Xinjiang Hami energy base to Henan and concludes that the most economic approach is power transmission rather than coal transportation. This work is supported by Henan Province Government Decision-Making Research (2011 B281).
