Analysis on Trend of Power Coal Price in 2012 and Suggestions
To address the recurring issue of continously rising prices of thermal coal which has resulted in the coal- electricity price imbalance in the recent years, this paper analyzes the 2012 power coal price trend by exploring the influencing factors of the prices of the contract coal and the market coal, which are the main components of China＇s thermal coal. The contract coal price, which is mainly influenced by national policies, will remain relatively stable in the year 2012, while the market coal price, which depends on market supply and demand and other factors, will also roughly remain stable through the whole year due to the slowdown of the domestic economic growth and other factors. However, there are chances that the power coal price may fluctuate to a higher position at times in some areas due to seasonal factors. Relevant suggestions are put forward to ensure steady supply of power coal.
