Study on Conception of Open Innovation and Its Classic Practice
With the rapid advancement of technology and further development of the knowledge economy, traditional model of closed innovation can no longer meet the need of enterprises for innovation and development, hence enterprises begin to attach great importance to the open innovation model. This paper analyzes the causes for the rise of open innovation, elaborates on the basic theory of both the traditional closed innovation and the open innovation models, and then explains the connotation of open innovation. By introducing the typical practices of open innovation in Intel, Procter ＆ Gamble, Philips and Cisco Systems lnc, a summary is presented of the basic experience of open innovation and its revelations for Chinese central state-owned enterprises.
