Preparation and photocatalytic performance of aluminum-doped strontium titanate photocatalysts
Perovskite-type SrTiO3 with different amounts of dopant aluminum(Al)was prepared by sol-gel method using strontium chloride as strontium source and tetrabutyl titanate as titanium source. The physicochemical and photocatalytic properties of the catalysts were studied by X ray diffraction,UV-Vis diffuse reflection spectrum, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X ray spectroscopy. The as-prepared SrTiO3(Al-0.3)sample is perovskite type, and aluminum was successfully doped. The doping of aluminum decreased the particle size of the pristine catalysts, narrowed the band gap,and reduced the recombination rate of photogenerated electrons and holes. The photocatalytic performance of SrTiO3(Al-0.3)was improved by aluminum modification. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency of phenol by SrTiO3(Al-0.3)can reach more than 96.0%within 6 h.The cycling experiments showed that aluminum modified-SrTiO3 had good stability.
