Preparation and properties of epoxidized soybean oil polyols
Epoxy soybean oil(ESO)and biomass small molecule sorbitol undergoing ring opening reaction under the action of catalyst HBF4 to prepare epoxy soybean oil polyol(ESOP).The structure of ESOP was determined through infrared spectroscopy analysis, and the effects of reaction time, molar ratio of sorbitol to oil epoxy group and catalyst dosage on the ring opening conversion rate, hydroxyl value, and viscosity were investigated. The optimal synthesis process conditions for preparing ESOP were obtained as follow:reaction temperature of 65 ℃,reaction time of 4.5 h,molar ratio of sorbitol to oil epoxy group of 1∶1,catalyst dosage of 1.0%of the total mass of reactants.ESOP hydroxyl value, ring opening conversion rate and viscosity could reach 184.45 mg/g,58.8%and 3.8 Pa·s,respectively, while the relative molecular weight distribution was moderate. The rheological analysis results indicated ESOP was a pseudoplastic fluid with good rheological properties, and the thermogravimetric analysis results showed ESOP had better thermal stability than ESO.
