Effect of methyl cellulose on floating fiber phenomenon and properties of PP/EVA/GF composites
PP/EVA/GF/MC composites were prepared by filling methyl cellulose(MC)in polypropylene/ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer/glass fiber(PP/EVA/GF)composite system. The effects of MC on the mechanical properties, microstructure, crystalline properties and flow properties of PP/EVA/GF composites were investigated. The results showed that at the addition of 2 parts of MC,PP/EVA/GF/MC exhibited excellent mechanical properties, with a tensile strength of 20.20 MPa and a bending strength of 38.79 MPa,which were 12.97%and 56.28%higher than PP/EVA/GF,respectively.The floating fiber phenomenon of PP/EVA/GF could be effectively improved by adding MC,and the number of glass fiber on the surface of the products was obviously reduced. The crystallinity of PP/EVA/GF/MC is 35.72%,which is 4.97%higher than that of PP/EVA/GF.When the shear rate is below 100 s-1,the viscosity of PP/EVA/GF/MC is lower than that of PP/EVA/GF,indicating that the fluidity of PP/EVA/GF could be improved by MC.
