Effect of Ni-WS2/MoS2 coated WC-12Ni powders on the tribological properties of the HVOF coatings
Ni-WS2/MoS2-coated WC-12Ni powders obtained with electroless co-deposition were used to prepare high velocity oxyfuel spraying(HVOF)coatings on the 17-4PH stainless steel substrate. The microstructure of the coatings was characterized with field emission scanning electron microscopy, and the tribological properties of the coatings were evaluated by measuring the microhardness, friction coefficient and wear rate of the coatings, combined with analysis of the powder characteristics and the pore structures of the coatings. The results showed that, with the introduction of solid lubricants through electroless co-deposition on spray powders, the fluidity of the coating powder not only could be guaranteed, but also the solid lubricant could be doped more uniformly, thus significantly reducing the porosity of the coatings and improving the degree of densification.A low coefficient of friction and wear rate,as well as improved coating hardness and wear resistance were obtained.Due to the better composition compatibility of WS2 and WC cemented carbide, the anti-friction and anti-wear properties of the WC-Ni-WS2 coating were better than that of the WC-Ni-MoS2 coating.
