In order to improve the traffic safety and efficiency of the continuous merging area for urban river crossing bridges and to complete the relevant standards and design rules, the driving characteristics of drivers in the continuous merging area are analyzed based on statistical rules and traffic flow theory, and the minimum spacing model of the continuous merging area of urban river crossing bridges is established. The continuous merging area of three representative urban river crossing bridges in Fuzhou City is selected as the research ob-ject,the traffic flow operation characteristics and vehicle driving trajectory are obtained through double UAV aerial video. The traffic survey data is further applied to calibrate the key parameters of the model from the safety perspective, and the minimum spacing recommendation value for the continuous merging area of urban river crossing bridges is calculated.
