By using Al(NO3)3·9H2O and Mg(NO3)2·6H2O as raw materials, urea as precipitant, the Tb3+,Eu3+single-doped and co-doped magnesium aluminate spinel powders were synthesized by hydrother-mal assisted solid phase method. The structure and morphology of the prepared rare earth ions doped MgAl2O4 phase were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Furthermore, the photoluminescence properties of the phosphors were analyzed by fluorescence spectrum and CIE chromatici-ty diagram. The results show that the doping of a small amount of Tb3+/Eu3+does not change the crystal struc-ture of the MgAl2O4.The rod-like magnesia-alumina spinel powder with good dispersion can be obtained by introducing precipitant urea, and the change of Tb3+/Eu3+concentration has little effect on the morphology of the sample. On this basis,a multi-color tunable emission from pink to red light in the visible light region is a-chieved using 377 nm near-ultraviolet light as the excitation light source.
