A method for accessibility measurement of urban public transportation system based on improved potential model:A case study of Chengdu city center
With rapid urbanization, ensuring high accessibility to public transport is critical for promoting sustainable urban development and improving the quality of life for residents.Public transport accessibility is a significant concern in urban and transport planning, involving the convenience of public services, the efficiency of transport links, and the interconnectivity between different areas. The potential model is an important method for measuring the accessibility of public transportation. To promote urban sustainable development, this paper uses the potential model to measure the accessibility of urban public transportation system.Based on complex network theory, this paper constructs a comprehensive centrality measurement index considering the degree, number of intersections, and proximity centrality of public transport lines and stations.Building on this foundation, the potential model is introduced, taking into account the spatial distribution of population. The improved potential model is established, considering the spatial heterogeneity of the population.Subsequently,a comprehensive centrality measurement index is proposed to measure the accessibility of urban public transport system. To test the method's effectiveness, the improved potential model is compared with the traditional potential model in the downtown area of Chengdu. The public transportation network, integrating the surface bus network and the subway network,is experimentally analyzed. The results show that the improved potential model considers more factors than the traditional potential model, providing more practical significance.High accessibility areas are widely distributed in the central urban area of Chengdu, while low accessibility areas are mainly situated in the city's periphery.Concentrated areas with high accessibility in the southeast of Wuhou District are attributed to its proximity to Chengdu South Railway Station and the relatively high surrounding transportation capacity..Wuhou District and Jinjiang District exhibit better public transport accessibility, while Chenghua District and Jinniu District face relatively poor accessibility due to the combined influence of factors such as population distribution, road network distribution, and urban development. The results effectively reflect the accessibility of Chengdu's urban public transport system and the reliability of the improved potential model in urban public transport system.Differences in accessibility between regions arise from many factors.By evaluating the accessibility of different traffic stations,we can identify weak areas in the traffic network, providing a scientific basis for traffic infrastructure construction and route planning. The research results provide new ideas for optimizing the overall layout and route planning of public transportation, improving interconnection and traffic connections between different regions, and providing important references for urban planning and traffic planning.
