Because of the flourishing development in tourism and the intensive competition among tourism destinations,tourism destination image has been noticed by tourism researchers and marketing managers.Based on the analysis of large amount of literatures,an overall review is made on definitions,the constituent elements,influencing factors and formation process of tourism destination image.It is concluded that the constituent elements of tourism destination image include perceptual/cognitive evaluation,affective appraisal and overall image.The influencing factors of tourism destination image include personal factors and stimulus factors.The relation of the constituent elements and the influencing factors is analyzed.The formation processes of tourism destination image include static process and dynamic process.In the end,some aspects that need further study are indicated,the tendency of tourism image research is predicted,and the inspirations of these studies to tourism image studies in China are pointed out.
