Excavation of Eastern Zhou and Tang Wells at Qianqiaocun Site in Xinbei District,Changzhou,Jiangsu
From November 2021 to March 2022,the Changzhou Municipal Institute of Archaeology con-ducted archaeological excavations at the Qianqiaocun Site on Sanjing Street,Xinbei District,Changzhou City,Jiangsu Province.The excavation unearthed 16 wells dating to the Eastern Zhou and Tang dynasties as well as a total of 70 artifacts,including stone,pottery,porcelain,and wood.The wells were concentratedly distributed with diverse structures and dates.The unearthed artifacts were well preserved,numerous in num-ber,and diverse in type.The excavation provides new materials for the study of well-digging techniques,set-tlement locations,and occupational environments in the Jiangnan area.
