Excavation of Western Han Tombs M66A and M66B in Tiecha Mountain,Yunlong,Xuzhou,Jiangsu Province
In September 2012,Xuzhou Museum conducted an excavation on two tombs(M66A and M66B)within the Tiecha Mountain Han tomb complex in Yunlong,Xuzhou,Jiangsu province.The two tombs were superimposed in the same burial pit.The upper tomb(M66A)is a vertical pit tomb with wood cham-bers,likely dating to the mid-late Western Han period.The lower tomb(M66B)consists of a vertical pit with double stone coffins,likely late in the early Western Han period.A total of 56 artifacts(sets)were unearthed from both tombs,mainly pottery and bronze objects,along with 12 pictorial stones.The excavation provides important new evidence for studying burial customs and practices of the Han Dynasty in the Xuzhou area.
