Virtual Narrative and Spatial Production:The Reproduction of Objects and Contexts in Iterative Exhibitions of Dunhuang Art
In addition to the exhibitions held at the sites in Dunhuang featuring authentic objects, the advancement of digital technologies has enabled the creation of Dunhuang-themed exhibitions outside the region. These are presented through either fully virtual exhibitions or hybrid formats combining virtual set-tings and authentic objects.A common challenge with exhibitions sharing the same theme is homogenization.Iterative exhibitions, which evolve from previously successful shows on the same theme, provide a solution. The iterative exhibitions held outside of Dunhuang explore virtual narratives, spatial production, and spatial practices in representing Dunhuang art. When showcasing a culture away from its original locale, adhering to its core values is crucial.Building upon these values, developing iterative exhibitions through innovative nar-ratives and reorganized cultural elements not only diversifies the exhibition landscape but also amplifies its social impact.
