Preliminary Report on the Excavation of Eastern Han Tombs at Gaojiachong,Xincun,Guiyang County,Hunan Province
In August 2021,the Hunan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology,along with other institutions,conducted a rescue excavation of the four Eastern Han tombs at Gaojiachong in Xin-cun,Aoquan,Guiyang,Hunan province. All four tombs are single-chamber brick structures with a"凸"shaped floor plan. The excavation uncovered a wealth of burial items,including pottery,ironware. Notably,dated bricks inscribed with"the fourth year of Yongchu"were discovered in Tomb M3. The excavation con-tributes to the refinement of the periodization system for Eastern Han tombs in southern Hunan and provides valuable insights into the social and historical changes in Guiyang County during the Eastern Han period.
