Preliminary Report on the Excavation of a Tang Dynasty Tomb Dated to the Seventeenth Year of Zhenyuan at Cangjie in Xiangmen,Gusu District,Suzhou,Jiangsu Province

2017年3—8月,苏州市考古研究所在江苏省苏州市姑苏区相门仓街遗址南区发掘了一座唐墓,保存较好,出土一方墓志,墓葬年代为贞元十七年(801年).墓中出土文物不多,但时代明确,为苏州古城研究以及苏州地区唐墓的研究工作提供了新的资料.
Abstract
From March to August 2017,the Suzhou Institute of Archaeology conducted an excavation at the Cangjie Site in Xiangmen,Gusu District,Suzhou,Jiangsu province. In the southern area of the site,the excavation uncovered a well-preserved Tang Dynasty rectangular vertical pit tomb. Significantly,the tomb included an epitaph that dates it to the seventeenth year of Zhenyuan (801 AD). This excavation provides new data for the study of the ancient city of Suzhou and Tang Dynasty tombs in the Suzhou area.
