Preliminary Study on the Urban Archaeology of Panyu City in the Nanyue Kingdom
Panyu City of the Nanyue Kingdom was the most influential city in the Lingnan region during the Qin and Han periods, and is the earliest confirmed city in present-day Guangzhou. This paper reviews historical documents and archaeological data to summarize the research on Panyu City. Based on recent ar-chaeological discoveries in northern Huangpu,Guangzhou, the paper also discusses the central areas of the Lingnan region before the form of Panyu. On this basis,it proposes that the integration of Lingnan into the Chinese civilization community began in the Neolithic period and was ultimately completed during the Qin and Han periods.
