Excavation of the Han Tombs from Lianhecun Cemetery in Keqiao,Shaoxing,Zhejiang Province
From April to September 2021,the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology,in collaboration with partner institutions, conducted an excavation at the Lianhecun Cemetery in Keqiao,Shaoxing,Zhejiang province. The excavation unearthed 43 tombs, including 12 tombs from the Han Dynasty, spanning the late Western Han to early Eastern Han periods. These tombs were constructed as rectangular vertical earthen pits and contained 103 funerary objects, primarily high-fired glazed ceramics and hard pottery. The findings provide important insights into the tomb features and the layout of the cemeteries during the transition between the Western Han and Eastern Han periods. The excavation also offers valuable evidence for locating pre-Spring and Autumn period cultural remains in this area.
