Brief Report on the Excavation of Six Dynasties Tombs at Hejiashan Mountain,Qixia District,Nanjing
From April to June 2021,the Nanjing Archaeology Institute conducted excavations at Hejiashan Mountain in Qixia District,Nanjing, revealing ten tombs.Six of these were brick chamber tombs from the Six Dynasties period, all featuring a"凸"shaped single-chambered arched ceiling. The excavations yielded over eighty sets of artifacts, dating from the late Eastern Jin to the early Southern Dynasties.Tombs M3-M4 and M6-M9 formed two clusters with similar orientations, sizes, and types of grave goods. The consistency in brick specifications across these tombs suggests they were contemporaneous family burials. The proximity and chronological sequence of these six tombs, along with minor variations in tomb size and brick specifica-tions,indicate they likely belonged to different branches of the same family.
