Brief Report on the Excavation of the Southern Song Yu Family Lady 72 Tomb in Jintan District,Changzhou,Jiangsu
In May 2020,the Changzhou Museum conducted excavations of two Song Dynasty tombs in Xiyao Village,Jincheng Town,Jintan District,Changzhou,Jiangsu.One of the tombs,a vertical shaft pit tomb with a wooden coffin,was particularly well-preserved.The coffin featured colorful painted patterns,and the tomb yielded a variety of grave goods,including glazed pottery,tinware,gold and silver items,wood-en and bamboo objects,and copper coins.The tomb belonged to Lady 72 of the Yu family,with the burial dating back to the eleventh year of the Jiading era of the Southern Song Dynasty.This dated tomb provides valuable data for exploring issues related to Song Dynasty burial structures,funerary customs,religious be-liefs,and art history.
