Regional Production Analysis of Celadon Everted-Rim Ewers During the Six Dynasties Period
The production of celadon ewers with everted rims during the Six Dynasties can be classified into three major regions:Zhejiang,Hunan, and Jiangxi, and four sub-regions:Jiangsu,Hubei,Sichuan,and Fujian. Each of the major regions produces celadon ewers with distinctive characteristics in their knob fea-tures,with Zhejiang and Hunan's styles originating from local Han Dynasty ceramic traditions.Jiangxi's style reflects both a continuation and innovation beyond the local Han traditions. The formation of the sub-regions is rooted in the influence of these three major regions. The ewers from Jiangsu and Hubei, following the Zhejiang system, display less regional distinction.Sichuan's ewers, initially influenced by Hunan, later developed unique features in the neck decorations and rim designs.Fujian's ewers, influenced by both Zhejiang and Jiangxi, evolved unique characteristics in the neck and belly decorations as well as in the forms of the rim and belly.
