Are Universities Cultivating the Professionals Needed for the Cultural Heritage and Museum Industry-An Empirical Dialogue between Industry and Academia
Human resources are a critical factor in advancing museum development. This study examines"employability"as a key metric by drawing upon existing literature, conducting in-depth interviews with cultural heritage and museum industry experts, and surveying cultural heritage and museology master's graduates. The findings indicate that the employability skills valued by the cultural heritage and museum industry largely align with those cultivated in master's graduates across three dimensions:core competen-cies,self-awareness,and professional skills. Most of the employability skills prioritized by the industry match those developed by the graduates, with a relatively balanced distribution across these three dimen-sions.However,professional skills specific to the cultural heritage and museum field show a weaker align-ment.Given the increasing specialization in the cultural heritage and museum industry and the enhanced practical training in master's programs, achieving high-quality talent development in this sector is within reach.
