Research on the Connotation of Accessibility in the Context of Museum
In the latest definition of the museum published in 2022,the term"accessible"was intro-duced as a new element.This change reflects the contemporary museum's focus on the dynamic process of public access and highlights the growing emphasis on museums social role.The addition of accessibility carries significant connotations for the present era.Accessibility in the context of the museum encompasses four levels and five components:physical availability and awareness,accessibility of rights,psychological ac-ceptability,and adaptability in practice.The concept of accessibility underscores the two-way interaction between museums and the public,the dynamic balance between supply and demand,and the adaptive rela-tionship between museums and evolving national policies and new social ideas.This framework not only serves as a standard for evaluating the quality of public cultural services but also emphasizes the interactive system of elements—from material to spiritual—including objects,individuals,society,resources,and op-portunities.It aligns with current trends regarding the public role of the museum and contributes to their self-understanding,positioning,and high-quality development in today's context.
