Domestic and international research on the influencing factors of ASEAN integration generally focuses on three dimensions:"economic benefits","political security"and"major powers outside the region".The thriving digital economy is injecting new impetus into the process of ASEAN integration across these three dimensions. At the economic benefits level,ASEAN countries are working closely in digital infrastructure, digital talent development, mechanisms for cross-border data flows, and digital technology to advance"digital integration"and facilitate the free flow of data and goods within the region and fully harness the potential of the digital economy. In terms of political security level,ASEAN countries face significant shifts in politics and security, with issues of"cybersecurity"and"data sovereignty"becoming new"security threats".The competition for"digital power"around the digital economy has become a focal point in global power dynamics. To address security threats and enhance their international standing,ASEAN countries are collaborating on responses to cyberattacks, coordinating data management standards, and collectively strengthening digital capacity building in the region. As for the external countries dimension,China, the United States, the EU and other leading economies compete to provide investment and support for digital capacity building in Southeast Asia, and institutionalize the digital economy cooperation with ASEAN as a whole, thus promoting the ASEAN integration process. However,to implement a geopolitical"Containing Strategy"on China,Western countries adopt a"divide and rule"approach in a digital economy with ASEAN countries, focusing on countries that have disputes with China and constructing exclusive cooperation mechanisms that emphasize ideological differences, which negatively impacts on ASEAN's integration.
