Industrial Transformation in the Lancang-Mekong Countries from the Perspective of Building a Community with a Shared Future
After World War Ⅱ,the processes of economic globalization and regional economic integration have developed in depth, which is a key manifestation of the major European and American powers strengthening their regional and even global influence and constructing regional industrial cooperation and economic networks. In recent years,ASEAN has been trying to maintain its leadership in the Asia-Pacific region. As important components of ASEAN,the Mekong countries are facing significant historical tasks of economic and social development. After WWII,several industrialization processes in the Mekong countries failed due to the lack of foundational conditions for industrialization. The industrial structure of each country remains largely agricultural, preventing the realization of industrial development and the industrialization process. From the perspective of industrial transformation, the Mekong countries have the potential to absorb industrial adjustments and transfers from countries like China,Japan, and the United States.Promoting the Lancang-Mekong Community of Shared Future provides new strategic opportunities for enhancing the economic strength of Mekong countries and promoting their development. If the Lancang Mekong Community of Shared Future can drive the industrial transformation of Mekong countries,it will not only achieve industrialization of Mekong countries, promote regional economic integration between China and Mekong countries, change the current situation of economic integration in the Asia Pacific region lagging behind other regions in the world, but also greatly improve the geopolitical and economic environment faced by China and Mekong countries, fundamentally ensuring the economic development and security of Mekong countries. In terms of history and reality, the industrial changes of the Lancang Mekong countries still face difficulties such as the limited governance of the Mekong countries, the misreading of Chinese ideology by relevant countries, and the rupture of the global supply chain and the intensification of economic decoupling caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The optimal approach for building a community of shared future for the Lancang Mekong countries is to promote the integration of industries between China and Mekong countries, creating a tiered industrial structure to achieve industrial transformation for both China and the Mekong countries.
