Modi's "Global Indian" Strategic Narrative and Its Constructive Logic
The paper examines Modi's interactions with overseas Indians as a discursive space where the government extends its national influence beyond its geographic borders, exploring Modi's narrative construction aimed at overseas Indians.Rather than a single conceptual framework,Modi's narrative of"global Indian"presents a new cultural, economic, and political connection between Indian diaspora and India by linking India's global strategy to the roles, identities, sentiments, and contributions of Indian diaspora through systemic, identity, and issue narratives. This approach reveals new cultural, economic, and political connections between overseas Indians and India. It is a strategy for the country to exert influence over people living beyond its territorial boundaries and represents the Indian government's efforts to construct and manage its global image.Through a continuous narrative construction connecting the past, present, and future,Modi diminishes fragmented identity politics and reshapes a new vision of"community",thereby enhancing the effectiveness of his strategic narrative.
