The addition of geographic information system can improve the automation level of power grid manage-ment,which can further escort the safe and stable operation of the power grid.This paper studies the automation sys-tem of distribution network based on geographic information system.Based on the research of the key technology of the application of geographic information system in distribution network,the field communication node of distribution network automation system is designed,and the overall scheme of distribution network automation system design based on geographic information system is given.The research of this paper can play a greater role in realizing the automation and modernization of the distribution network.
