Overvoltage failure is easy to occur in the substation,so it is necessary to use zinc oxide arrester for ov-ervoltage protection,but zinc oxide arrester in long-term work will also appear insulation aging,breakdown and other failures,loss of overvoltage protection function.This paper mainly analyzes the working characteristics and monito-ring methods of zinc oxide arrester.
