Overview of Synchronization Technology of Television System in IP Era
As television systems gradually shift from the traditional Serial Digital Interface(SDI)architecture to the Internet Protocol(IP)architecture,the Network Time Protocol(NTP),Precision Time Protocol(PTP),Real-time Transport Protocol(RTP)Timestamp,The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers(Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers(SMPTE)ST 2059,etc.,replace the Black Burst(BB)signal in the traditional SDI architecture,and become the device synchronization and stream synchronization signal of IP television system.Based on this,this paper introduces the synchronization principle of PTP,the important data format of RTP packets,the principle of RTP timestamp in video and audio stream synchronization,and the definition and related applications of SMPTE ST 2059.
