Research Progress on Correlation Between Triglyceride Glucose Index and Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy(DR)makes one of the leading causes of disability in diabetes.Triglyceride glucose(TyG)index has been identified as a reliable surrogate for insulin resistance, and there is a positive correlation between the risk of developing diabetic retinopa-thy(DR),which has been recognized as an independent risk factor or a reliable predictor of DR.In this article,we review the correlation between TyG index and DR,the association between TyG index and the pathogenesis of DR(retinal vascularization,inflammation,oxida-tive stress, and lipid metabolism),and the clinical application of TyG index in the prediction of DR,with the aim of providing assistance in the clinical diagnosis of DR.
