Report of One Case of Forest Encephalitis Involving Basal Ganglia Lesions
Objective To investigate the clinical features, diagnostic methods, treatment strategies and prognosis of forest encephalitis in-volving basal ganglia lesions. Methods A patient with forest encephalitis with basal ganglia lesions was analyzed, and the clinical data were collated, and the clinical characteristics, auxiliary examinations(imaging examination, cerebrospinal fluid examination,immunologi-cal examination)and treatment methods were sorted out. Results The clinical manifestation of this case was limb paralysis, which was easily misdiagnosed as cerebrovascular disease.Forest encephalitis was diagnosed according to the patient's history of prodromal"tick"bites, combined with immunological examination and cerebrospinal fluid examination, and imaging examination involving the basal gan-glia area, which is rare in clinical practice. Conclusion Patients with encephalitis with a history of forest exposure should be alert to the possibility of forest encephalitis, and pay attention to the possibility of it affecting the basal ganglia and other brain regions,so as to facili-tate early diagnosis, treatment and prognostic assessment.
