Study on Export Efficiency and Potential of ICT Products between China and Maritime Silk Road Countries
Trade in information and communication technology(ICT)products has played an important role in narrowing the regional"information gap"and promoting regional synergistic progress. This paper measures the export efficiency and potential of ICT products between China and countries along the Maritime Silk Road through the construcion of a stochastic frontier gravity model. The results show that China's export efficiency of ICT products to countries along the Maritime Silk Road is on the low side in general, with significant country-specific differences and thus there exists a large export potential. In terms of ICT product categorization, the export efficiency of telecommunication equipment and consumer electronics is higher, while that of electronic components has been at a low level for a long time. From a regional perspective,China's ICT product export efficiency is the highest in Southeast Asia, and its export potential is the largest in South Asia.China should properly adjust the export structure of ICT products in countries along the Maritime Silk Road, focus on the South Asian market, and continuously tap the trade potential of ICT products.
