Analysis on the Competitiveness and Complementarity of Trade in Services Between China and CPTPP Member Countries
The high-level opening-up of trade in services is a key element of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership(CPTPP),which will bring new opportunities and challenges to the devel-opment of China's trade in services. At the same time,China's domestic economy has shifted from high-speed de-velopment to a new stage of high-quality development, and there is an urgent need for high-quality development of trade in services.Based on UNCTAD data from 2011 to 2021,the paper analyzes the competitiveness and comple-mentarity of trade in services between China and CPTPP member countries. The results show that in terms of com-petitiveness,Japan and Singapore are relatively strong in international market;in terms of complementarity,China's services trade imports are highly complementary to CPTPP countries.Accordingly, recommendations were put for-ward to actively promote China's early accession to CPTPP and build an international services trade cooperation platform;to give full play to the comparative advantages of China's major sectors of services trade;and to utilize the digital economy to create a new growth pole of trade in services.
