China-India Seed Industry Cooperation:Strategic Value,Main Bottlenecks,and Breakthrough Paths
The development scenarios of China and India's seed industry are similar, both facing the need to withstand international competition shocks while aiming for internal industry transformation, and both desiring to narrow the gap with developed countries through international cooperation.Deepening bilateral seed industry cooperation and coordinating responses to international competition have important strategic value and practical significance for both countries. However, cooperation in the seed industry between the two countries also faces three major bottlenecks:imbalanced economic and trade relations, unstable agricultural cooperation, and mismatched seed management systems.A feasible breakthrough path is to apply concepts of the community with shared future for mankind, such as international power, common interests, sustainable development, and global governance,to the seed industry research and development processes like germplasm resource sharing, joint breeding, variety testing and recognition, and intellectual property cooperation.Through complementary advantages, mutual benefit, and collaborative development, the two countries can achieve close cooperation and comprehensive development in the seed industry.
