Research on the Efficiency and Potential of China's Trade in Services with RCEP Member Countries
Bassed on panel data of China's trade in services imports and exports with RCEP member countries from 2005 to 2021,this paper employs a stochastic frontier gravity model to comprehensively analyze and evaluate the efficiency and potential of China's trade in services with RCEP partner countries. The results show that China has higher trade in services potential with Japan,South Korea,Singapore, and Australia, while the potential is relatively lower with Cambodia,Myanmar and Laos.Additionally, factors like bilateral economic scale, merchandise trade, free trade agreements, import tariffs, and financial openness collectively enhance trade efficiency, whereas other factors like population size, capital city distance, and shared borders among RCEP member countries no longer significantly impact bilateral trade in services volumes.Looking ahead,China should leverage digital economic transformation, optimize the structure of trade in services, reduce both tariff and non-tariff barriers, and actively deepen economic and trade cooperation with RCEP countries to enhance trade facilitation.
